Selection 3.05 Kemp Binnion Bay 0.5pts EW at 12/1
I’ve got one selection today: I wasn’t originally planning to give one but there has been a significant non-runner, so I will give a selection after all.
I’m sure a few of you had a wry smile seeing Exit Smiling win and I certainly did. I had a feeling it would run well but my issue was the jockey as he really is hopeless and is usually used to get horses well handicapped. The massive irony of the race was that he rode a great race and made the jockey on the second look terrible, so it made me smile to myself. It was 16/1 very early with B365 and I don’t want to miss too many of these in a season but it happens.
The other one ran an OK race but I’d have to see more before thinking about selecting it. It hasn’t let any secrets out the bag yet which can’t be said about the first one!
OK, today’s racing is interesting and I looked closely at 3 races. Two of the races revolved around Mick Easterby. Some of you know this already but for those that weren’t around at the outset of the service, this is a stable that I read particularly well and over the last 5 years, most of my best wins have come from this stable. It’s a notoriously difficult stable to read but once you understand what is going on, it can be a licence to print money on the flat.
As you know, I missed two winners from the stable last week and he had two at Kempton today.
The first one is Elliwan in the 2.05 Kemp. An ex Mark Johnson horse, it has dropped something like 28lbs in 5 starts for Mick. Up in trip, blinkers on, first run at Kempton, expect a big improvement today. I’d love to tell you to lump on but I can’t. It hasn’t shown any form at all for Mick and when it does, it will win and be backed off the boards.
I have now seen that the horse has been backed from 14/1 to 4/1! – lol
The second one of Mick’s was August Gale but it is a non-runner, so I’ll give a selection in this race now. (see below)
WIthout being Einstein, Mick has entered two, booked Hayley Turner for the obvious one, got everyone to concentrate on this one and then hammered the first one and withdraw the second one! The guy is a genius as I keep saying!
The last race I looked at was the last at Lingfield. No real conclusion from the race at all but watch It’s My Day. Horse has more ability than he shows on the track.
3.05 Kemp
My initial view was that August Gale was unbeatable but I couldn’t tip it. Now that isn’t going, I’ll switch to my other one.
Binnion Bay is the selection after a very decent run last time. The horse is a massive hold up horse and will be travelling as well as anything 3f out. Whether it picks up and overtakes them all is a different matter but if it runs on, it is handicapped to win today.
I followed this a few times on the turf last season and it is definitely still able to win races off this sort of mark and assuming it comes on for the last run, back at a venue it loves, it should run well.
0.5 points EW on Binnion Bay at 12/1
